Providing fire suppression in lieu of 45m fire service access

All new housing developments and commercial developments must take into account the need for permanent and unobstructed access for firefighting appliances. There should be vehicle access for a pumping appliance to within 45m of all points within the dwelling house. Every elevation to which vehicle access is provided should have a suitable door, not less than 750mm wide, giving access to the interior of the building. Automist was used in a Surrey-based house in lieu of the normal 45m fire engine access, suppression was installed throughout the premises.
