What warranty comes with my Automist system?
Two things, and they work in sequence rather than as alternatives.
Your Manufacturer's Warranty comes as standard and covers Automist parts for two years from the date your system was installed. You don't need to do anything to activate it — your Authorised Reseller Installer will give you a Warranty Certificate at handover showing the expiry date.
When that ends, you can buy an Extended Warranty to continue parts cover for a further twelve months at a time, following each annual service. Your Authorised Reseller Installer arranges this and will quote you a price.
When does my Manufacturer’s Warranty start and end?
It runs for two years from the date your system was installed and commissioned. The exact expiry date is printed on your Warranty Certificate.
That date doesn't depend on when your Authorised Reseller Installer bought the equipment from us. If they held it in stock for a while before fitting it, you still get a full two years from the date of installation.
Do I need to have the system serviced?
Yes — Automist must be serviced every twelve months by an Authorised Reseller Installer. This is a requirement of the installation standard the system is designed to, and it's how you know the system will work when you need it.
Servicing isn't a condition of your two-year Manufacturer's Warranty, and missing a service doesn't cancel it. But faults that arise because the system wasn't serviced as required aren't covered, and you'll need an up-to-date service to buy an Extended Warranty if you want to continue parts cover beyond the Manufacturer’s Warranty period.
What is an Extended Warranty and how do I get one?
An Extended Warranty may be purchased to continue parts cover for twelve months from the date of a service. It's normally first offered at your second annual service, which is when the Manufacturer's Warranty ends, so there's no gap and you're not paying for cover you already have.
It's arranged through your Authorised Reseller Installer, who will tell you the price. It can be renewed each year, provided renewal is completed within one month of the previous warranty expiring.
If the Manufacturer’s Warranty period has ended and you did not purchase an Extended Warranty to continue cover and/or have not kept servicing up to date, you may be ineligible from purchasing an Extended Warranty in the future.
Where you have purchased an Extended Warranty previously but have allowed it to lapse, we may allow in our discretion allow you to start it again subject to servicing being brough back up to date and you paying the applicable reactivation fee notified to you by the Authorised Reseller Installer.
What isn't covered?
The Manufacturer's Warranty covers parts only. It does not extend to:
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage to the system after it was installed, including accidental damage, misuse and intervening events including but not limited to flood, freezing or lightning strike
- Faults caused by the way the system was designed or installed
- Faults caused by the system not being serviced in accordance with our instructions
- Any attempt to repair, dismantle or tamper with the system by anyone other than an Authorised Reseller Installer
- Removing or reinstalling equipment, and labour or call-out charges
If a part fails and is covered, we repair or replace it free of charge and return it to a UK address at our cost, which is your sole and exclusive remedy for a claim under the Manufacturer’s Warranty or Extended Warranty as the case may be.
Your installer's charges for fitting it are separate and are a matter between you and them.
What happens if a part is replaced under warranty?
The replacement is covered for however long was left on the Manufacturer’s Warranty the claim was made under — it doesn't start a new two-year period. If you're issued a new certificate, it will show the same expiry date as the original.
The same applies if you are in an Extended Warranty period. Replacement parts are subject to the period remaining on the Extended Warranty claimed under, rather than starting a new 12-month period.
How do I make a claim?
Contact your Authorised Reseller Installer. They'll raise it with us. Have your Warranty Certificate to hand, as we'll need the serial number of the part.
Keep your Warranty Certificate somewhere safe. It's also what makes buying an Extended Warranty straightforward later, because the serial numbers are already recorded.
What if I sell my home?
The warranty stays with the system. It passes to the new owner for whatever remains of the period, and there's nothing you need to do. A copy Warranty Certificate is available on request.
I already have an extended warranty. What happens to it?
Your system is subject to the Manufacturer’s Warranty that was sold with it. Changes to our warranties for subsequent sales do not affect your existing Manufacturer’s Warranty unless you agree.
My system was installed before 1 February 2023
Your existing warranty will continue until the end of its current extension period. When that expires you may purchase an Extended Warranty. See further details about our Extended Warranty above.
What are my legal rights?
This warranty is in addition to your legal rights and doesn't affect them.
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 the goods must be of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. Those rights are enforceable against the business that sold and installed the system to you, and they last longer than our Manufacturer’s Warranty — up to six years in England and Wales, five in Scotland.
