Can you add a battery backup to Automist?

As a default, Automist requires an independent 230V A.C. / 50Hz electrical supply, not shared with other unrelated devices. The Automist Smartscan Hydra system, fire detection and alarm system may use this circuit, which must remain powered in the event of a fire.  Battery backup can be added to increase the system's robustness when the power supply is unreliable, or the consequences of power failure are high (e.g. vulnerable occupants). An alternative method to increase robustness would be to introduce dual power supplies. Depending on the type of building, the ease of escape, or fire rescue access, enhanced features like these should be considered to address any additional risks identified in the Requirements Specification.

Battery Backup Example

Each system takes approximately 8A at 230V A.C (i.e. 1840 W) when pumping and will run for either 10, 30 or 60 minutes. Portable Power Technology Ltd offer a cost-effective UPS system, which can be used to power Automist in case of a power shortage.

Equipment list

  • 1 x Kinergier Pro 3000W 12V inverter-charger (CM3.0L)
